Privacy information

How account, order and delivery information is used, and where to manage your Piessang preferences and data requests.

Information used to operate your account

Piessang uses the account and contact details you provide to operate your account, record purchases, manage seller accounts and respond to support cases. Order information includes the selected products, payment status and delivery details.

Shopping activity is used automatically to personalise product recommendations. Signed-in customer browsing history is retained for up to 30 days. Optional message preferences can be managed in your account.

Payments, delivery and support

Payment card details are handled by the payment provider rather than shared with marketplace sellers. Piessang records payment references and statuses to reconcile orders and refunds.

Relevant order, contact and address details are used by the seller and delivery provider to fulfil orders and arrange returns. Support cases retain the information you supply so the conversation and its outcome can be followed.

Product performance and AI assistance

Piessang uses a signed first-party visitor cookie and product activity to measure organic and sponsored visibility, sale campaign banner interactions, clicks and purchases. Campaign banner events are deduplicated using a hashed visitor reference and retained for up to 90 days. Campaign order attribution uses the price commitment saved at checkout. Reports use a seven-day product-click attribution window. Activity can be linked to your account when you sign in. Individual browsing events and pilot assignments are retained for up to 90 days; daily aggregate product metrics for up to 13 months. Browser restrictions can make these reports incomplete.

Seller-dashboard activity, setup progress and store performance are recorded automatically to operate seller accounts, identify setup blockers and provide support. Administrators can see the latest dashboard activity for owners and team members, completed setup steps and operational metrics. Hidden or idle tabs stop updating activity; no separate tracking permission prompt is shown.

Seller AI tools send the product facts you submit, or a bounded report of your own store’s metrics, to OpenAI to generate a draft or explanation. We do not send customer identities, payment details or another store’s private data as report evidence. Avoid entering personal or confidential information into listing facts or questions. Responses are requested without provider-side response storage, and Piessang keeps request results and usage records so drafts can be recovered and allowances reviewed. Provider abuse monitoring may still apply.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies and browser storage support sign-in, display-currency preferences and shopping navigation. Browser settings can clear or restrict this storage, which may sign you out or reset saved preferences.

When configured, Google Analytics or analytics-only Google Tag Manager loads automatically on storefront and checkout pages, without a separate cookie permission prompt. Analytics helps us understand site usage and improve the shopping experience. It may use cookies and process page views, interactions, referring pages, browser and device information, online identifiers and approximate location.

Google processes analytics information as a service provider and may process it outside South Africa. Browser privacy settings can restrict cookies or tracking. Account notification preferences are separate from site analytics.

Your choices and data requests

Use your account to update personal details, manage addresses and set message preferences. Transactional messages needed to fulfil an order may still be sent.

You can request an export of your account data or a deletion review. Deletion is reviewed because completed orders, tax records, payouts and fraud-prevention records may require retention; submitting a request does not immediately remove every record.

You may raise a privacy enquiry or an objection to processing through support. Applicable rights under South African data-protection law are not removed by using the marketplace or accepting its terms.
